This home, built in the Greek Revival style around 1860, served as
a hospital for soldiers during the Civil War. They were mostly from the
9th Indiana Regiment that trained at Camp Colfax on the west side of La
Porte. The building still stands today at 102 "C" Street, though much altered
from its original appearance.
