In conjunction with the “Provence at Purdue North Central” festival, the La Porte 
County Historical Society is featuring a “petite” display explaining the French connections in the founding and naming of La Porte. Come view the exhibit and 
learn more about famed explorer Robert La Salle, as well as fur trader Madore 
Cratee who bestowed upon La Porte its elegant French name.
