The only identification on this photo says
simply 'Ed Jessup.' This may be
the owner of the steam tractor, and/or the man in the photo.
The tractor is
apparently hooked up to, possibly, a threshing machine by means
of the large
belt extending out of camera range. These thresher/tractor
combos were not
necessarily owned by each farmer, but by one farmer who went around
from
farm to farm at harvest time. Note the draft horses on the
right, which continued
as a source of power for plowing and cultivating well into the 20th
century.
