Kid's Conveyances

 The Mobo Bronco hobby horse was made by Sebel Products. It dates from about 1940 and has spring action and wheels which caused the horse to gallop as the child bounced on it. 
    

The Studebaker Junior wagon was made by the Studebaker corporation as a child's copy of their full-sized farm wagons. This one was purchased about 1920 at Sommerfield & Austin in LaPorte, an agricultural implement dealer, by the parents of Clarence R. Smith. These wagons were made for boys and some were made with a hitch for a goat or pony. As an adult, Clarence R. Smith donated the wagon to the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum.

 

 

The Crown Bicycle, made by the Great Western Manufacturing Company of LaPorte, is one of this museum's prized possessions. It is mostly original and although repainted, it maintains the original pattern of stripes. The carbide '-'Solar" brand light is a period accessory. The bicycle was also donated by Clarence R. Smith.

 

The green and black pedal car is a Terraplane model, made by the American National Company of Toledo, Ohio.
 
 
 

 

The child's sleigh dates from 1873 and features a painted wood body mounted on wrought iron runners.
