LaPorte High School Faculty
ca. 1890

This photograph shows the faculty of LaPorte High School about 1890, posing in front of an American flag. Standard protocol for flag display had either not been established, was not being observed, or, possibly, the photo was printed backwards! The only known member of the group is the man in the full beard, Professor F. H Simons. He was the art teacher for the school for years, and was an accomplished artist in his own right. The LaPorte County Historical Society has several of his watercolor landscapes.
