This store stood at the northeast corner of Indiana Ave. and Jefferson
Ave. (where Indiana Abstract & Guaranty is now.) Besides groceries,
the store sold feed hay and straw. The old buckeye tree in the picture
was cut down in 1940 by the Board of Public Works and Safety because it
had become a "menace to safety at the corner."
The building was torn down in 1961.
Trivia question? On each window
is writing saying EAT H-O.
What does H-O stand for?
May 13, 2000 - Bob Freese of New Hampshire
told us that
"when he was young, H-O Oats were good for
you".
Thanks Bob
