Maccabee Great Camp Review Day

This photo dates from May 22, 1901 and looks east down Main Street, or Lincoluway, from Michigan Avenue. A sign for Lowe's store, outlined in electric bulbs, along with an early street light and many electric poles show the extent to which electricity had spread by the turn of the century. Visible beyond Monroe St. on the right is the Teegarden Hotel, then the European Hotel advertising 'Meals 25 cents", and what appears to be an early Dr. Pepper ad on a building side beyond.
