View from LaPorte High School Tower

This photo was taken from the tower of LaPorte High School, around 1890.
The high school building had been built in 1864 on Harrison Street between
Clay and Jackson.  The view here is looking to the northwest, with three
towers visible.  To the left is the First Christian Church which fronted on
Maple Ave.  To the right is the First Methodist Church on Monroe Street.
Just to the left of that tower, visible over the top of the Odd Fellows Building
with the round-headed windows, can be seen the very top of the LaPorte County
Court House tower.  This was the second court house building, built in 1848, and
replaced by the current court house in 1892.
