Ruth Sabin Home
Corner of Michigan and South Avenues

Ruth Clark was born in 1802 in Lee, Massachusetts.  In 1832 she married Sydney Sabin in Groton, N.Y.  In 1870 they moved to a farm in Noble Twp. in LaPorte County, where Mr. Sabin died in 1886.   Three years later, with an investment of $25,000 for grounds and buildings, Ruth Sabin established the home where older women might live comfortably in their later years.  She, too, lived there until her death in 1894.  Today the home continues to provide elegant, secure surroundings for women, and men as well.
